Do you hate to use the stove for heating water? There is a great alternative to the market: electric kettles.

Electric kettles are inexpensive, easy to use, and come with a whole range of tech capacities. They boil water nearly twice as fast as stovetop kettles and often come with a shut-off safety function to prevent overheating or boiling dry.

Some modern Best Electric Kettle models even allow users to change temperature controls to suit their drink of choice. The best electric kettle for you will depend on what you are looking for in terms of price, style, capacity, design, or high tech properties like an LCD display, temperature control and keep warm function.

Best Electric Kettles

Electric kettles are the best and easiest way to heat water without a stove. Moreover, if you want to get the most flavor from your tea or coffee, let us tell you that there are some of the kettles with customized temperature settings.

Out of so many, the Cuisinart CPK-17 PerfecTemp Kettle is the best so far, with a great combination of speed, accuracy, and simple operation. If you are interested in other kitchen items we have Nonstick Pans for you with different models and complete detail.

1. Cuisinart PerfecTemp Cordless Electric Kettle (CPK-17)

The All-Purpose Electric Kettle

Cuisinart PerfecTemp Cordless Electric Kettle (CPK-17)

If you are looking for an all-purpose machine, this is the one to get your hands on. This kettle holds 1.7 liters of water and heats it at an optimal temperature setting required for a flavorful cup of coffee or tea.

The best part, probably, is Cuisinart’s consistency and easy-to-use features. We were quite happy to detect very minor variations when it comes to the amount this machine takes to bring a liter of water to its boiling point. Also, the accuracy factor is on-point as well – the Cuisinart’s kettle was accurate to hold the water at a preset temperature.

Moreover, this kettle has six adjustable temperature options, each having its own button. Also, there is a keep-warm feature to hold the water at a preset temperature for about 30 minutes. Another impressive part is that this model comes with a warranty of three years.

If you are looking for an all-purpose machine, this is the one to get your hands on. This kettle holds 1.7 liters of water and heats it at an optimal temperature setting required for a flavorful cup of coffee or tea.

Since 2013, the Cuisinart CPK-17 PerfecTemp Cordless Electric Kettle has been on our top picks category. Why? All credit goes to its easy-to-use features, good speed, and accuracy. Moreover, this kettle sports an intuitive interface with six adjustable temperature settings along with a warming option to keep water at a set temperature for about 30 minutes. This Cuisinart CPK-17 PerfecTemp Cordless Electric Kettle sports a wide handle so that you can hold it safely and conveniently, and like we discussed the advantages of a spout, the machine sports one that doesn’t splash or dribble liquids while pouring out into the mug.

Out of all the multiple temperature setting models we tested, the Cuisinart CPK-17 PerfecTemp Cordless Electric Kettle turns out to be the simplest and easiest one to operate.

There is a dedicated button on the handle for each temperature setting, which further has labels for both the temperature and drinks it’s ideal for (French Press, Oolong etc). It is especially helpful for those who have no idea about ideal temperatures for different types of tea. You just need to add water to this kettle, set temperature, push start, and wait until it beeps. Once it is done, the machine automatically switches to the auto keep-warm option, where it holds the set temperature for 30 minutes. The machine also features another button that allows the easy opening of the lid that too one-handed, and the spout draws the liquid out evenly.

Consistent Heating TimeBeep AlertsCleaning PhaseWarrantyFlaws but not deal-breakersUpdates

Apart from Cuisinart’s easy-to-use design and simple feature, we noticed another great thing: consistent heating time. We discovered that this machine, on average, brings a litre of water to boil in just about 4 minutes. Yes, we know that it isn’t the fastest out of all we tested, but it was comparatively speedier than most models. Moreover, the Cuisinart passed out the test of accuracy: the temperature of the water was 2 degrees after 30 minutes of keep warm setting. That’s impressive!

The Cuisinart CPK-17 PerfecTemp Cordless Electric Kettle gives out one beep on the press of a button on the control panel, and it does beep multiple times when it hits the temperature setting. Though it beeps more than once, we found it less irritating than the KitchenAid KEK1722SX, which beeps excessively. Also, the temperature alert is quite impressive, which was missing out on many models we tested. What does it mean? The temperature alert will save you time, and you won’t have to wait near your countertop.

However, there is a thing to be careful of: the machine will produce loud beeps only if the kettle is turned on and you return to it the base all empty. This beep alert is basically the “boil-dry protection” alert, which prevents the kettle from damage. However, this situation is easy to avoid because you can see the level of water from the window.

The best part is that the Cuisinart CPK-17 is not difficult to clean up; a detachable scale filter in the spout and wide opening of the lid is enough for you to reach your hands inside and clean the limescale out. Just be careful to prevent water from the control panel positioned on the handle; clean them with a damp cloth only, or if necessary, use mild dish soap. Harsh detergents or cloth will make labels on the handle disappear or fade away.

One of the other great features is that the Cuisinart CPK-17 comes with a limited warranty of three years, which is comparatively better in this price range. Considering the fact that it is hard to boil water constantly, having a warranty three times than any other at the same price is quite impressive.

No doubt the Cuisinart CPK-17 was better than other kettles in terms of accuracy, but we also found out that it wasn’t up to the par when it was about time to hit lower temperatures; it measured additional 8 degrees while we aimed for 160F. At 175F and above, the machine measured +,- 3-4 degrees, which is fine.

However, since the kettle has other great features and it has proved to be consistent with other operations over time, we are still convinced and ready to let go of this minor flaw.

Moreover, we have also received some complaints that this model by Cuisinart happens to break after a year, or its lid breaks off the hinge, but there is no need to worry as these faults should come under warranty coverage.

Some customers also reported that the labels on the buttons fade away with time. We, however, haven’t faced this problem till the time we used it. We assume that it may occur due to the way how people clean the handle. One of Cuisinart’s representatives told, “The only cleaning solution that should be used is a damp cloth and a mild dishwashing soap. Any other cleaners (Windex, Fantastik, Lysol) have harsh chemicals and may remove the paint/printing.”

We have been using the Cuisinart CPK-17 PerfecTemp Cordless Electric Kettle in our office for about a year now, and there have been no complaints. As far as the update is concerned, let us tell you that the lid opens perfectly, water heats up pretty fast, and the labels still look new. Some of our staff members use this model at home and are totally satisfied with it. Well, people do have different experiences with it: while some have noticed labels wearing off after a year, others have used it for over five years.

I’ve been looking for a new kettle for a while but wasn’t willing to pay a high price. This kettle isn’t cheap but gives temperature options for tea drinkers. It looks great on my counter and I love the keep warm function. I can put the kettle on in the morning and have hot water waiting for me before I leave for work! Remember to leave lots of water in the kettle if you are using the keep warm function. It could damage the kettle if it ran dry while heating.

Lynn

I really like this kettle. It is replacing my first one that lasted well beyond what some raters have stated. It is easy to refill and the variable temperatures for steeping enhance the taste of the tea. Yes, different teas do need different temperatures.

Pros
  • Features intuitive interface with six adjustable temperature settings
  • Warming option to keep water at a set temperature for about 30 minutes
  • Dedicated buttons on the handle for each temperature setting
  • Spout doesn’t splash or dribble liquids while pouring out into the mug
  • Consistent heating time
  • Three years of warranty period
Cons
  • Doesn’t hit lower temperatures with accuracy

2. OXO Brew Adjustable Temperature Electric Pour-Over Kettle

One of the best gooseneck kettles

OXO Brew Adjustable Temperature Electric Pour-Over Kettle

If you are a pour-over coffee fan, don’t wait and replace your old pour-over coffee maker with this OXO Brew Adjustable Temperature Electric Pour-Over Kettle. The best part is its outclass and so-on-point temperature accuracy.

Are you a finicky coffee-drinker? The OXO Brew Pour-Over Kettle lets you have the control needed to make a delicious cup of pour-over coffee. Also, this kettle comes with all types of features that will help in creating the best cup of tea or coffee. The OXO’s controls let you be granular, adjusting the temperature of the water in 1-degree increments, from 140F to 212F or 40C to 100C. Like the Cuisinart, this kettle also holds preset temperature for about 30 minutes. And a bonus feature is that it comes with a built-in timer. So that you will have the control to modify in between the process at any given time.

If you are a pour-over coffee fan, don’t wait and replace your old pour-over coffee maker with this OXO Brew Adjustable Temperature Electric Pour-Over Kettle. The best part is its outclass and so-on-point temperature accuracy.

DesignTemperatureCount-up TimerBuild

The OXO Brew Adjustable Temperature Electric Pour-Over Kettle features a fine design. Moreover, the model is the second-fastest model out of all we tried for this blogpost; it literally takes just 3 minutes and 18 seconds to heat a litre of water. The machine sports slim and angled spouts, which is specifically designed for controlled pouring. Moreover, it also lets you have accurate control over the temperature. So if you have some serious addiction to the pour-over coffee or you are pretty finicky about the taste, this is the machine you should get your hands on. Right now!

The controls on this brewer are sleeker than many on other pour-over kettles we put to test. Also, this one has intuitive controls: you just have to twist the knob for temperature adjustments and then push it to start boiling the water. The OXO’s controls let you be granular, adjusting the temperature of the water in 1-degree increments, from 140F to 212F or 40C to 100C. According to our tests, the results were pretty accurate. The best part is that when you turn the machine off, the OXO doesn’t forget the last temperature settings.

Moreover, there are printed guidelines on ideal temperature settings for green tea, oolong, coffee and other beverages under the kettle. We tend to really appreciate this feature, as we had a hard time testing other models without it.

The kettle also sports the OXO’s display sports water temperature as it starts to heat, so you can keep an eye on the process. Also, there are audible cues let you know whenever the water reaches the desired, set temperature, and just like Cuisinart’s keep warm feature, the OXO kettle also actives the features and holds the water at the set temperature for about 30 minutes. Furthermore, you can stop the boiling process at any time by just pressing the button.

The machine also sports another great feature, which we didn’t find in any other model: the OXO Brew Adjustable Temperature Electric Pour-Over Kettle features a count-up timer, which allows you to regulate and modify the pour’s speed and duration.

The OXO Brew Adjustable Temperature Electric Pour-Over Kettle is manufactured from stainless steel, with no plastic components coming in contact with the water. The lid and handle are silicon-made, which allows easy grip and prevents hands from burning. However, like every gooseneck kettle, one minor drawback is that its lid doesn’t pull open at the push of a button – you have to open it manually, which is quite uncomfortable when the kettle is hot. Moreover, like all gooseneck kettles we put to test, the OXO Brew Adjustable Temperature Electric Pour-Over Kettle doesn’t sport any water-level window.

There are certain reviews that question the OXO’s durability, though as already mentioned that electric kettles have a shorter lifespan than shelf life on average. With that being said, this model comes with a warranty of 2 years, which is comparatively more than the 1-year warranty. We are currently testing this product and its durability to check how long it lasts.

This is a fantastic kettle – heats 1 liter of water to 200+ degrees in less than the time it takes to weigh and grind my coffee and keeps the set temperature for 30 minutes. Comfortable handle and good control of pouring into the dripper. The kettle controls are simple and intuitive. Some reviewers have had problems with the electric circuit tripping from the high current draw. Modern kitchens have 20A outlets so this isn’t a problem. If you live in an older building with 15A outlets you might have problems if anything else is plugged in to the same circuit and drawing power at the same time.

Andy

This unit basically perfects anything you could want from an adjustable temperature kettle. First, it is quite attractive unlike nearly every other competing product. It has a minimalist interface that works beautifully. The gooseneck is tuned so you don’t get water pouring too fast like most other units. And the best feature? If you return the kettle to the base within 60 seconds, it automatically holds the temp at the last temp selected, no button presses necessary.

Pros
  • Outclass and so-on-point temperature accuracy
  • Second-fastest model out of all we tried
  • Machine sports slim and angled spouts
  • Printed guidelines on the machine
  • Audible cues lets you know whenever the water reaches the desired temperature
  • Stops the boiling process at any time by just pressing the button
  • Count-up timer, which allows you to regulate and modify the pour’s speed and duration
Cons
  • You have to open the lid manually, which is quite uncomfortable when the kettle is hot
  • Doesn’t sport any water-level window

3. Hamilton Beach 40880 Stainless Steel 1.7 Liter Electric Kettle

An Affordable Water Heating Electric Kettle

Hamilton Beach 40880 Stainless Steel 1.7 Liter Electric Kettle

Though this model by Hamilton Beach doesn’t have any extras or add-ons like that of a multiple temperature setting model, it heats the water at a reasonable price.

Get your hands on this reasonable kettle – Hamilton Beach 40880 Stainless Steel 1.7 Liter Electric Kettle. It is ideal for those who don’t wish to splurge over an electric kettle for boiling water. This machine is made of stainless steel and features simple and easy-to-use operations. Its heating time is the same as Cuisinart’s, and it does turn off automatically the moment it reaches the boiling point.

Though this model by Hamilton Beach doesn’t have any extras or add-ons like that of a multiple temperature setting model, it heats the water at a reasonable price.

If you are in search of something reasonable yet decent, go for the Hamilton Beach 40880 Stainless Steel 1.7 Liter Electric Kettle. We recommend getting your hands on it for it is cheap and does the job of heating the water pretty quickly. This model doesn’t have any great features like other models we mentioned on this list, but it does have all the other features that help in getting the job done in a decent manner. The great part is that it features a handle that is easy to hold, and also, the spout pours the drink neatly, without any splashing or dribbling.

SpeedUsage and OperationsDesignDrawback and Warranty

As far as the speed is concerned, the speed of this model is great.

The model by Hamilton is quite easy to use: you just have to snap the tab up on the base of the handle, and voila, the kettle begins its job. As soon as the heating cycle starts, a red light glows to let you know that it’s on and working. The machine automatically turns off once the water hits its boiling point. One thing, however, is that this machine doesn’t have any audible cues, so you must keep a check.

The Hamilton Beach kettle also passed out out no-dribble test; the featured spout on the machine didn’t let the water dribble while pouring into the mug, and the wide handle was comfortable and easy enough to touch and hold.

Unlike models that need manual efforts to open the lid, the 40880 model lets you open the model with just a push of a button positioned at the handle’s top. This particular feature is necessary for safety, as it lets you touch and hold the kettle while it is still hot. Moreover, the machine also features two water-level windows. That is quite impressive as it lets you keep a check on the level of water in the kettle, regardless of the position.

One drawback, however, is that this model by Hamilton Beach features plastic hinges. Metal hinges are comparatively stronger and durable. The Hamilton Beach 40880 Stainless Steel 1.7 Liter Electric Kettle comes with a warranty of one year.

Writing this review after having it for a year. It still works as well a year later as on day 1. Make sure to read the instructions since there is a minimal-fill level to reach so you don’t fry the machine. Never have had weird-tasting tea or water, just really quick results! Would buy it again, but it seems so well build I might not need to!

The Rev

Very happy with this tea pot. One of the BIG features is an on and off tab that cannot be accidently activated. Unlike most teapots where the on off tab pushes down for on this pushes up. That means when you set something down next to the teapot it will not be unknowingly activated thus melting or burning whatever is next to it. Holds ample amount and the space saving vertical size is also a plus. We have been very happy with this and would buy it again.

Pros
  • Reasonable
  • Automatically turns off
  • Wide handle is comfortable and easy enough to touch and hold
  • Lid opens with just a push of a button positioned at the handle’s top
  • Features two water-level windows
Cons
  • Plastic hinges

4. Bonavita BV382510V 1.0L Digital Variable Temperature Gooseneck Kettle

One Of The Cheapest Gooseneck Kettles For A Cup Pour Over Coffee

Bonavita BV382510V 1.0L Digital Variable Temperature Gooseneck Kettle

Having a reasonable price tag, the Bonavita gooseneck kettle features multiple adjustable temperature settings and a curved spout for easy pour-overs. However, it brings the water to a boil a bit slowly.

This model has the capacity to hold 1 liter of the bottle. It is lightweight and easy-to-use. You can set any temperature between the range of 140F and 212F. Moreover, the bonus part is that the Bonavita BV382510V holds preset temperature up to an hour. The main drawback is that it takes a bit longer to heat the water and doesn’t boast any audible alerts whenever the water hits the temperature.

Having a reasonable price tag, the Bonavita gooseneck kettle features multiple adjustable temperature settings and a curved spout for easy pour-overs. However, it brings the water to a boil a bit slowly.

The Bonavita BV382510V 1.0L Digital Variable Temperature Gooseneck Kettle is made of stainless steel (this design is also available in a larger version, 1.7 liters). The machine carries a reasonable price tag and is a great option for pour-over coffee enthusiasts. As far as its performance is concerned, the machine features accurate and precise control on temperature. Also, its long spout gives you great control to pour-over. But the interface of this machine is not as sleek as the OXO’s. Also, this kettle by Bonavita is a bit slower to heat.

Though the Bonavita electric kettle hits a boiling point in 5 minutes and 30 seconds, it was, undoubtedly, as accurate as the OXO, measuring just a degree of increment in the set temperature. According to one of the Bonativa’s representatives, this model is quite popular among baristas just because of its temperature accuracy. Like expensive kettles, it has temperature accuracy, an easy-to-read screen, and six temperature settings. Moreover, one great thing is that the machine keeps track of the water’s temperature, making you always aware of the intensity of hotness.

The SpoutDrawbacksWarranty

The Bonavita’s long spout passed our tests – they performed great, allowing you to have maximum control over your coffee or tea. However, we came across some complaints regarding the spout. One of the complaints said that the spout started to leak from the place it is joined to the kettle, and the other complaint said that the spout didn’t pour slowly enough as he liked it to.

When we compared the Bonavita with the OXO, we found some other drawbacks as well. There are no audible alerts when the water hits the temperature, and the Bonavita gooseneck took an additional two and a half minutes to heat the water. Also, the labels are complicated and not as attractive than the OXO’s sleek and simple interface. Also, the Bonavita kettle doesn’t have any extra special features, like a count-up timer, or ideal temperatures for different types of beverages.

The Bonavita BV382510V 1.0L Digital Variable Temperature Gooseneck Kettle features a warranty coverage of one year, which is rather shorter than a three-year warranty of the Cuisinart CPK-17, or a two-year warranty of the OXO Pour-Over. The great news is that our staff members do have this kettle, and they have been using it for over four years, and it is still as new as it was first bought. Also, we have used this model in our test kitchen for some time, and we didn’t come across any complaints.

Pros
  • Reasonable price tag
  • Features accurate and precise control on temperature
  • Hits a boiling point in 5 minutes and 30 seconds
  • Temperature accuracy
  • Easy-to-read screen
  • Six temperature settings
Cons
  • No audible alerts when the water hits the temperature
  • Not attractive than the OXO’s sleek and simple interface
Here Is The Reason To Trust Us
Over the years of researching on this topic, we dug down a little deeper to present our best pick. And for that, we reached out to several experts and inquire about their preferences for an electric kettle. We talked to Tony Gebely of Tea Epicure; Michelle Rabin, founder of T Ching; Peter F. Goggi, president of the Tea Association of the USA; and renowned tea expert Bruce Richardson. We also researched on the best-selling and top-rated models on various websites, like Wired, Bed Bath & Beyond and Amazon. Sarah Zorn, the author of a cookbook and recipe developer and tester, has worked on our research and contributed her precious time testing electric kettles so that the guide would be up and running here.
Who Should Be Getting Electric Kettles
Whether you are a tea-addict or a coffee aficionado, getting your hands on an electric kettle with customizable temperature settings will increase your drink game. Most people like to boil water in a kettle and pour hot, boiling water over a teabag.

However, there are thousands of tea varieties available on the market, and each tea demands different brewing temperatures. While precise temperature setting is a grey area and literally comes down to the personal taste profile, the general rule says that the delicate the leaves are, the cooler the water should be. For instance, green tea is delicate hence, requires a relatively lower temperature than that of black tea. When it comes to brewing a flavorful and balanced cup of Joe, regardless of its type, the temperature should be below the boiling point; the Specialty Coffee Association recommends the temperature to be approx. 200F. As far as coffee is concerned, it is better to consider an electric gooseneck kettle, especially for pour-overs. Why? Because the thin, angled spout helps in the slow and controlled pour.

Don’t Like Tea Or Coffee? They Are Still The Best!
If you don’t like tea or coffee, there is a solution for you too: a no-frills model. It is a basic model that only heats water. Moreover, electric kettles are also ideal for those who don’t like to hear that irritating, alarming sound of whistles. Also, if you want to kickstart your day with that cup of energizing caffeine, an electric kettle is the best appliance you should get your hands on to have the task done a fast and easy way. Last but not least, if you are a student living in a dorm, you may not have easy access to a stove, guess what is an ideal option to go for? Electric kettles.

We take coffee seriously at our house and this little kettle surpassed our expectations. It pours a steady stream of perfectly heated water, allows you to preset the temperatures you’d like and it’s light enough for me to pick up when it’s full (I’ve got joint issues). Besides all that, it looks like a piece of artwork on the countertop. Go ahead and spend a little more. This kettle is worth it.

Edward K

I’ve been using this kettle, to heat water for tea, for over a month now and I love it. The temperature control on the base is great but I especially like the spout. The pouring control when pouring into a small tea strainer is great. The kettle is also pretty fast getting water to the boil. The only downside is that the minimum temperature is 130F but for tea thats not really a problem.

How Did We Pick Our The Best

If it is a great electric kettle, it should come to its maximum temperature quickly and precisely. Also, it should have some extra special add-ons that make it great to use. Our research has made us come down to the following few factors that make or break the deal for the best electric kettle.

Care and MaintenanceAccuracyFast and Quick OperationPours FinelyLess Use of PlasticSafety FeaturesEasy CleaningWarrantiesAdd-onsThe Testing PartSimple and Easy Controls

As far as the maintenance and care part is concerned, you must take some time out for your machine. In order to lessen the buildup of mineral deposits inside your kettle, you must always empty it out after you use it. Though frequency to clean the kettle depends on the hardness of water, you will still need to clean it over time.

Either go through the manual for specific instructions on cleaning or pour one cup of white vinegar in the kettle and 3 cups of water, heat it and bring to a boil, shut off, and let the mixture stay in the kettle overnight. There is another way to descale: take one teaspoon of cream of tartar and a half kettle of water. Empty the kettle, refill with water, heat to bring it to a boil, and draw the water out; repeat this step twice.

There are some kettles out there that sport a mesh filter to trap calcium deposits, and it requires periodic cleaning. But if you have hard water, you may have to clean it more often. Go through the instructions written in the manual for taking the filter out, and clean it under hot water either with a brush or a cloth. In case your kettle has hard calcium deposits, let the solution of one part of water and three parts of white vinegar sit overnight.

Accuracy is essential to get your cup of caffeine just right. Reasonable accuracy is an important factor to look in a kettle, especially in those with multiple temperature settings. Why? Because no one wants to go for 212F when they clearly want 200F. Not a coffee or tea addict? We considered that too. We also looked for electric kettles with no adjustable temperature settings and a simple boiling option.

Who would want to sit for hours to heat water, especially when it is about caffeine? No one! We found a range during our test, with kettles boiling water within 3 minutes to a forever 7 minutes or more. What we specifically looked for? The ideal kettle is the one that boils water in 5minutes or less.

We know splashing and dribbling are so irritating, and kettles should be able to draw the liquid out in a mug without any of that. When it comes to gooseneck kettles, we especially looked out for models that allow people to have complete control over the speed and direction of the stream.

Our research and the testing list never included plastic kettles; kettles made from stainless steel, glass or ceramic went through our testing phase. Why? Because some experts and customers reported that plastic kettles leave a weird taste and smell to the water. Also, it is evident that plastic warps over time and kettles made from plastic are vulnerable to warping gradually.

However, our testing did include models with minor plastic components, like some parts of the lid, filters, or the water-level window. The great thing is that every kettle model we tested had heat-resistant plastics. So there is no need to worry about melting and having any traces in your drink.

Safety is the first thing you should look for in everything you buy. And when it is about an electric product, safety features are crucial. Now, what do we mean from safety features when it comes to electric kettles? They must sport handles and lids that stay cool to prevent your hands from burning. There is a feature called an auto shut-off, which is rather important for safety. Most electric kettles, these days, sport one, but it is extremely important to keep a check if this feature is working properly.

Lime deposits are inevitable and that is why every kettle needs descaling frequently. Wide openings play a vital role in making the cleaning part easier. That is the reason we specifically looked for a wide opening so that it is easy to reach inside the kettle for the cleaning process. Moreover, electric kettles also sport a scale filter in the spout which helps in keeping some of the lime deposits at bay.

Research reveals that electric kettles have a shorter lifespan and they fail easily. When an appliance has complicated settings, it is hard to boil water. Even high-end kettles have a short lifespan, so it is always better to get your hands on a model with a reasonable warranty. Usually, they come with a year’s warranty; but two or more is great.

Audible cues make it much easier to keep an eye on the kettle. If you hate waiting and your kettle doesn’t sport any audible announcements, it is harder than your expectations. With that being said, people don’t like to own a noisy kettle either. That is why it is preferable to get your hands on a quiet kettle. Other extra features include times, real-time temperature indication features, and toggles to let you switch from Fahrenheit to Celsius.

We started the testing process by counting the time each kettle took to bring water to its boiling point. Kettles with adjustable temperature settings also went through the phase, and we also tested their accuracy by measuring the accuracy level of their internal thermometer in terms of non-boiling temperatures via a Therma Mk4, our best pick for the instant-read thermometer. The best part is that we tested kettles twice.

Some of the tested models sported a warming feature that allows the machine to hold set temperatures, so we checked the feature’s accuracy as well. We also tested the auto shut-off feature and noticed if the kettle is making any irritating beeps while its usage.

Moreover, we also tested the water after heating to check if there are off-putting flavors from any of the plastic components. Last but not least, we also tried making pour-over coffee with gooseneck kettles to check the control they allow and how precisely they distribute water.

Water boiling is a simple task, not a math equation to solve. We specifically looked for kettles with intuitive controls. What does that mean? They are simple and easy to start operating at just the push of a button. We didn’t get every model with temperature settings, but for the ones that had this feature, we looked for easily adjustable settings. Also, it was really helpful when ideal temperature guides for different drinks were printed there on the machine instead of a manual.

Other Competitors

5. Brewista Smart Pour Variable Temperature Kettle

The Brewista Smart Pour Variable Temperature Kettle performed quite well in our tests, especially due to its unique programmable feature of beginning heating at a later time. Moreover, it has all the great features one would want in a gooseneck kettle, such as precise pouring, multiple adjustable temperature settings, and an LCD that shows the clock and current water temperature.

However, the Brewista boils water twice as long as the OXO kettle, which carries the same price tag as the former one. Also, this model has complicated controls.

6. AmazonBasics Stainless Steel Electric Kettle

AmazonBasics Stainless Steel Electric Kettle

If you are on a search to find something reasonable, the Amazon Basics Stainless Steel Electric Kettle one of the cheapest options we tested. The amount of time it takes to boil a liter of water is the same as the Hamilton Beach 40880. But the main drawback is that this model features a bit old-fashion design, and also, we didn’t find it comfortable enough to hold and pour.

7. Fellow Stagg EKG Electric Pour-Over Kettle

Fellow Stagg EKG Electric Pour-Over Kettle

We do have some expectations from the Fellow Stagg EKG Electric Pour-Over Kettle. This model does feature an “Easter egg,” which comes out when you detach the kettle from its base and toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius. But we don’t take this feature as price-worthy. Why?

Because the Fellow Stagg features small space (not even a liter) and less heat-safe surfaces. Undoubtedly, the design is great, with all black-matte body, but it is kind of off-putting when it comes to identifying and staying away from hot points.

8. KitchenAid Precision Gooseneck Electric Kettle

KitchenAid Precision Gooseneck Electric Kettle

The KitchenAid Precision Gooseneck Electric Kettle doesn’t boast many intuitive controls. Though you have control of the flow rate of the spout, it needs some efforts inside the machine. So? So you really need to make sure the kettle is cool enough to touch and hold.

Though it allows you to set temperature with an addition of just a degree, it is still harder to read on a thermometer that is built into the lid.

10. Bella Electric Ceramic Tea Kettle

One drawback of the Bella Electric Ceramic Tea Kettle is that both the materials and capacity make it incredibly heavy, making it a bit difficult to pour out smoothly. Also, it increases the chances of breaking a little higher.

Moreover, you can not really identify hot spots just by looking at it, and there is no way to modify temperature. On top of that, 7 minutes is quite long to sit and watch the water to boil.

11. Willow & Everett Electric Gooseneck Kettle

Willow & Everett Electric Gooseneck Kettle

The Willow & Everett Electric Gooseneck Kettle features intuitive controls and labeled temperature settings. Moreover, it also carries a reasonable price tag. Seems like quite a good deal right now!

But wait, it is still heavier, and the top is a bit difficult to detach, which is apparently an issue because what if the kettle is still hot? Last but not least, the machine’s speed is slower – 5 minutes and 40 seconds.

12. Interurban Variable Temperature Kettle

Interurban Variable Temperature Kettle

The newer variant of the original Bonavita BV382510V – Interurban Variable Temperature Kettle should have been an improved model. But, we are convinced that the older version was still great, as it boiled faster than the newer version.

The Bonavita BV382510V hit the temperature in 5 minutes and 30 seconds while the newer version reaches the temperature in 6 minutes and 15 seconds. Moreover, the older version was quieter and had easier controls.

13. Chefman RJ11-17-GP Precision Electric Kettle

Chefman RJ11-17-GP Precision Electric Kettle

In our previous blogpost, the Chefman RJ11-17-GP Precision Electric Kettle was a budget pick, but as we tested it for a longer period, we found out that its beep alerts are quite annoying. Also, this model’s price has increased.

14. OXO On Adjustable Temperature Electric Kettle

OXO On Adjustable Temperature Electric Kettle

No doubts, the OXO On Adjustable Temperature Electric Kettle passed our accuracy tests, but it had some difficulty in staying closed. As the water reached a boiling point, the lid popped open all of a sudden. Another OXO model, the OXO On Cordless Glass Electric Kettle is more than expensive for a simple, basic kettle that doesn’t even have adjustable temperature settings.

15. Tribest Glass Raw Tea Kettle GKD-450

Tribest Glass Raw Tea Kettle GKD-450

The Tribest Glass Raw Tea Kettle GKD-450 doesn’t feature any push button. Also, it has a blue light that continuously illuminates on and off until the water heats completely. And that is something we found irritating.

16. KitchenAid KEK1722SX Electric Kettle

KitchenAid KEK1722SX Electric Kettle

The KitchenAid KEK1722SX Electric Kettle gained the position of a runner-up in our previous post, but when we tested it for a longer period, we found its excessive beep alerts too annoying. And also, the kettle has its default settings on Celsius; to change it into Fahrenheit, you have to manually change it.

There is one point to mention that several KitchenAid models were called off, including this one, as there were reports of burn hazards.

17. Breville BKE820XL Kettle

Breville BKE820XL Kettle

The price of the Breville BKE820XL Kettle has gone really far, and we are a little disappointed. Why? Because there aren’t any special or extra features to distinguish this model from the Cuisinart CPK-17. We also checked out the Breville IQ Kettle Pure, but guess what? It is more expensive and less durable.

18. Chef’s Choice Cordless Electric Kettle 681

Chef’s Choice Cordless Electric Kettle 681

Our previous budget-pick, the Chef’s Choice Cordless Electric Kettle 681, turned out to be the model with the fastest boiling times out of all our tested models. But some customers on Amazon have reported leakage and failure of auto shut-off feature.

19. Secura 1.8 Quart Stainless Steel Cordless Electric Kettle

To be honest, the Secura 1.8 Quart Stainless Steel Cordless Electric Kettle performed well in our tests and carries the same price tag as our current budget pick, but, unfortunately, it doesn’t boast any water-level window to keep track of water.

As per Secura’s representative, there is a small hole on the interior that lets steam to reach the unit’s bottom, where the control of temperature is placed. But, we discovered that cleaning this kettle is close to impossible, so we refused to include this model on our list.

20. 1.7-litre Capresso H20 Steel Plus

1.7-litre Capresso H20 Steel Plus

The 1.7-litre Capresso H20 Steel Plus is a big no, as it increased 10 degrees over the set temperature. Moreover, the heated water had a plastic-like taste and smell.

21. Melitta 40994 1.7-litre Kettle

Melitta 40994 1.7-litre Kettle

While the Melitta 40994 1.7-litre Kettle was one of the top-selling electric kettles and had good reviews. But this model is highly-priced to be on the basic kettles’ list.

22. Melitta 1.7-Litre Cordless Kettle

Melitta 1.7-Litre Cordless Kettle

The biggest problem with the Melitta 1.7-Litre Cordless Kettle is that it does sport temperature controls, but, unfortunately, it doesn’t have any labels for specific temperatures.

Other models we tested include the Breville BTM800XL One-Touch Tea Maker, which is extremely pricey. Selling a kettle at $200 that too with an only one-year warranty is far beyond the line. Even the Kitchen Aid’s KEK1522CA Pro Line Series Electric Kettle doesn’t boast any feature to distinguish it from Cuisinart’s kettle, which is priced half the cost right now.
