On 7th September 1985, in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India, Dr. Charudutt Apte and Dr. Jayashree Apte, welcomed their daughter Radhika Apte into this world. Both of her parents were studying and working as doctors at the Christian Medical College & Hospital, Vellore. Afterward, he father became a neurosurgeon and chairman of Sahyadri Hospital, in Pune, and her mother became an anesthesiologist. Apte has a younger brother, Dr. Ketan Apte, who is a business head at Sahyadri Hospitals. In Pune, Apte studied initially in a regular school, but then she and her four friends who lived in the same building were homeschooled. She said that homeschooling was a liberating experience for her. During her childhood, Apte trained Kathak, which is one of eight major forms of Indian classical dance.
